asleep on the job?

I recently began reading through a Psalm a day with a friend of mine. Today was Psalm 7. In it, the Psalmist says "Wake up, God." My question is: Is the Psalmist accusing God of falling asleep on the job? What are your thoughts? Click here to read the entire Psalm.

In another psalm it says, "the Lord does not sleep nor slumber", so I don't think it is accusing God of falling down on His job! I think this is a plea for the Lord to take up the psalmist's case and defend him. Don't we all need that (a defender and protector)?!

Here's what Aaron had to say regarding this post:

At first it seems as though he is accusing God of falling asleep on the job. But then he turns and says he is confident in God's verdict, "Innocent!". And at the end of the Psalm, he reiterates his faith in saying that he thanks God, who makes all things right. Sometimes we feel as though God is sleeping on the job, but God tests us. Stretches our comfort zone. We have to remember He is always by our side and have faith in his ability.
